Another industry stakeholder has rubbished claims that the online revolution poses a threat to brokers.
Speaking at a media briefing earlier this week, Fujitsu’s Martin North, executive director, industry group said brokers were savvy and could adapt to any new medium.

“In the future there is no doubt we will see more and more Australians buying their mortgage online,” he said.
“These are commonly referred to as digital natives. They feel comfortable doing everything online and taking out a mortgage is no exception.
“In this regard, potentially the role of the broker could diminish, unless they realise there are additional services they can provide to the customer.
“If the broker model doesn’t change at all – there could be a downwards tilt. If on the other hand, and this is far more likely, they evolve and embrace the digital age, there are a lot of business opportunities out there.”
