After just one week the first round of broker IQ has closed with a staggering 1,000 plus contestants.

BrokerIQ, an initiative of St George and The Adviser, is a new industry quiz that will identify Australia’s brightest broker.

The first round – conducted online over the last week – generated an outstanding response with close to 10 per cent of the industry pitting their wits against the clock and their peers.

According to Steven Heavey, St George Bank’s general manager of intermediary distribution, the response to BrokerIQ has far exceeded his original expectations.

“We were looking to have a bit of fun with BrokerIQ and the 1,000 plus brokers that have tried their hand in round one shows we have hit the mark with this quiz.

“We’ll be thinning the field down to just 50 brokers for the second round and those that make the grade will face a tougher challenge if they are to reach the final, where there’s $10,000 up for grabs,” he said.

Successful entrants to the second round will be notified directly later this week. Round two will be conducted as an online quiz between 21-27 June.

The final will be hosted by TV Australian game show legend Larry Emdur at The Adviser’s Australian Broking Awards, held at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in Sydney on 15 July 2011.
