An initiative of St George Bank and The Adviser, BrokerIQ tested brokers on a range of topics, including product, finance and general industry knowledge.
Home Loan Experts director Otto Dargan took out the title – and the $10,000 cash prize – last Friday in the live final held at the Overseas PassengerTerminal in Sydney during The Adviser’s Australian Broking Awards.
Hosted by game show legend Larry Emdur, Mr Dargan pipped fellow brokers in a hard fought contest in front of an audience of over 400.
St George’s general manager of intermediary distribution Steven Heavey presented Mr Dargan with his $10,000 cash prize. Speaking with The Adviser, Mr Heavey said that the quiz show had been an outstanding success.
“This was always intended to be fun but at the same time BrokerIQ has clearly demonstrated that there are a great many brokers out there that are serious about their industry knowledge.”
Over 1,000 brokers entered BrokerIQ but the field was whittled down via two online elimination rounds held over June 2011 to just six finalists.
“I’d like to congratulate all the finalists for an outstanding performance – it was an excellent contest. On the day Otto was the fastest on the buzzer and he has been crowned this year’s winner.
“The response to this initiative has been staggering and we’ll look to build on its success in 2012,” Mr Heavey said.
