Brokers told to celebrate small milestones

Brokers who want to retain their staff long term, should make sure they offer praise where praise is due.

Author and professional speaker Ricky Nowak told The Adviser that good businesses realise the best way to reduce staff turnover is to celebrate every success, not just end results.

"Success and praise is very important. If you want to retain staff, you have to offer them praise," she said.

"Too often people say: we will celebrate success when the job is done. Praise comes at all times. It is all about small touch points, regular touch points along the way that keep people connected to the business and keep them connected to the people that they spend a lot of time with."

"The more praise a business leader offers their staff, the less likely they will be to see high staff turnover rates."
