Speaking to The Adviser, Suncorp Bank's general manager intermediary distribution Steven Heavey said the lender’s enhanced broker proposition was really starting to pay dividends for the bank.
“We have had a fabulous couple of months. We have achieved record lodgements over the last quarter, thanks, in large part, to our commission changes, technology improvements and the fact that we have transferred to a paperless system,” he said.
“The broker channel is supporting us at the moment and we want to show we are keen to support them now and over the long term.”
As such, Suncorp Bank has created a specialist third party distribution channel for its mortgage brokers.
“Whereas previously we have managed the mortgages written by brokers through our retail network, we have now created a specialist network that is managed by a number of third party specialists. We understand that selling mortgages through the retail network is very different to selling mortgages through a broker, which is why we have appointed a new broker specialist team," Mr Heavey said.
That specialist team includes: Robynne Jemmott as national aggregation manager; Harry Hills as NSW state manager; Steven Degetto as the state manager for Vic/SA/WA; Shane Davis as state manager QLD; and Sean Doolan as the new intermediary strategy and performance manager.
“These are very experienced leaders who share Suncorp Bank’s commitment to building deeper partnerships with our brokers and aggregators as well as industry stakeholders,” Mr Heavey said.
“The broker channel plays a significant role in Suncorp’s ongoing success, as such, we are committed to providing the channel with the right support and structure.”
