The competition to find Australia’s brightest broker has been stepped up a notch, with round two of BrokerIQ kicking off today.

BrokerIQ, an initiative of St George and The Adviser, is an industry quiz that will identify Australia’s brightest broker.

The first round – conducted online over the past few weeks – generated an outstanding response with close to 10 per cent of the industry pitting their wits against the clock and their peers.

According to Clive Kirkpatrick, St George Bank’s general manager mortgage broking, the response to BrokerIQ has far exceeded his original expectations.

"We're really happy to see that so many brokers have entered BrokerIQ again this year.  It's interesting to see a good mix of brokers are going through to round two, a variety of experience, aggregator representation, and states of origin,” he said.

"This is where it gets tougher as we're narrowing the field down to six and I can confirm that last year’s winner (Otto Dargan) is through to round two – he's going to be hard to beat but really it's anybody's game."

Interestingly, of the 1,000 plus respondents, only nine people got every question correct, with the most amount of people incorrectly answering: “who is the current St George Banking Group chief executive officer?”.

"This is BrokerIQ's second year so it's still very new, and we've made a few tweaks based on feedback last year.  I think it's great for the industry to have a quiz like this, to showcase some of the sensational knowledge and insights that brokers provide to our customers. Our hope is that it will become a much anticipated and well loved industry icon,” Mr Kirkpatrick said.

Brokers who have been successful enough to make round two of the competition will be informed by email today.
