The competition to find Australia’s brightest broker is now in its final stages, with the top six finalists now revealed.

BrokerIQ, an initiative of St George and The Adviser, is an industry quiz that will identify Australia’s brightest broker.

The first round – conducted online over the past few weeks – generated an outstanding response with close to 10 per cent of the industry pitting their wits against the clock and their peers.

Round Two saw the 50 best brokers compete aginst each other in another online quiz, with the final six being deduced from there.

The final six will now compete on stage at the Australian Broking Awards on 27 July for $5,000 and the chance to be crowned Australia’s brightest broker.

Reigning champion Otto Dargan is back again, having beaten more than 1,000 other hopefuls to secure his spot in the final.

Joining Mr Dargan is David Chia, Lara Martin, Patrick O’Brien, John Colley and Jonathan Cornish.

According to Clive Kirkpatrick, St George Bank’s general manager mortgage broking, the contest to find Australia’s brightest broker has been very intense, with little separating the finalists.

"The final six positions in BrokerIQ were hotly contested, with around 25 per cent of participants in Round Two achieving 100 per cent, it came right down to literally minutes.”

"There has been a lot of positive feedback throughout the industry, and also from the participants.  Brokers who participated have also given us some great ideas, improvements that we can make next year, so we're confident that we can continue to make BrokerIQ an exciting event.

"We're thrilled to be able to partner with The Adviser on BrokerIQ and we're really looking forward to seeing BrokerIQ come to fruition at the Australian Broking Awards.”
