After a nail biting final round, Home Loan Experts’ Otto Dargan claimed the coveted title and $5,000 at the Australian Broking Awards held at the Overseas Passenger Terminal last Friday.
BrokerIQ, an initiative of St George and The Adviser, is an industry quiz that identifies Australia’s brightest broker.
The first round – conducted online – generated an outstanding response with close to 10 per cent of the industry pitting their wits against the clock and their peers.
Round two saw the 50 best brokers compete against each other in another online quiz to determine the final six.
That six then competed on stage at the Australian Broking Awards on Friday for the title of Australia’s Brightest Broker.
Mr Dargan - the 2011 reigning champion - emerged victorious, winning the competition in a sudden death round.
Speaking about his win, Mr Dargan told The Adviser that it was great to see so much professionalism in the industry.
“The battle was close. Everyone was so good. I think our industry as a whole has improved in terms of professionalism and it is great to see so many brokers with so much industry knowledge,” he said.
