Australia’s Brokerage of the Year – Franchise has raised over $125,000 in support of its charity, according to new data.

Yesterday, Mortgage Choice announced it had raised the money following additional fundraising efforts for the Ronald McDonald House Charities during the company’s annual National Conference held from 18 to 20 July.

Franchisees, representatives from Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and families who have experienced firsthand the support provided by the charity, invited the Mortgage Choice franchise network, staff and lenders to dig deep during an unforgettable fundraising event at the Mortgage Choice 2012 National Conference.

Host to a charity auction, the fundraising event resulted in the national mortgage broker raising $62,368 in addition to the $65,000 already raised through a series of fundraising initiatives including salary sacrificing and donations per loan settled.

Mortgage Choice chief executive Michael Russell said he was blown away by the generosity of the franchisees, staff and business partners.

“We far surpassed our expectations at our National Conference charity night and silent auction – receiving contributions that were 50 per cent over our target,” he said.

“Kicking off the fundraising event was hearing the heartfelt story of one of our own franchisees who has relied on Ronald McDonald House Charities for support during a tough time. It was this experience that led her down the path of purchasing her Mortgage Choice franchise, so she could enjoy flexible working hours and spend time with her family.”

“This experience cemented in the minds of many in our business that now is the time to act. Our donation of $125,000 equates to nearly 1,400 nights of accommodation at a Ronald McDonald House for Australian families with a seriously ill child.”

“We are really proud to align ourselves with such an admirable charity and raising over $125,000 in our first 10 months in partnership is only the beginning – we’re aiming higher this financial year!”
