Earlier this week, Loan Market Group’s NSW-based Broker Steering Committee came up with the idea to support a charity that would benefit children who were less fortunate during Christmas time.
State manager Michael Karpathakis said that at the NSW Broker Christmas party earlier in the month a Christmas tree had been decorated with tags listing a specific present that an underprivileged child had asked for.
All NSW brokers and lenders who attended were encouraged to pick a tag and return with a present at the state’s final PD day on December 11.
“At our PD we brought in the same Christmas tree from the party and as our brokers arrived, the presents began to pile up under the tree. It was such an inspirational site to see not just strong support for this cause, but the effort put into getting these children the gifts they wanted for Christmas,” Mr Karpathakis said.
After the PD finished, the team delivered the gifts to Barnardos Charity Office in Sydney from where the wrapped presents will be distributed to the children.
“We’re so excited about being able to participate in such a wonderful cause and look forward to doing this for many years to come,” Mr Karpathakis said. “I’m so proud that our broker team came up with such a supportive idea and put so much effort into making this a wonderful initiative.”
The gifts ranged from crafts, clothes, scooters, stuffed animals and superhero toys, he added.
“We’re doing this to give back to our community and hopefully put some smiles on the faces of those who are doing it tough,” Mr Karpathakis said.
The NSW Broker Steering Committee is made up of the top performing brokers in the state and is planning several more charity drives in the New Year.
