Yesterday, ASIC issued a statement announcing the regulator had permanently banned Driss Doukari after it was discovered the former broker had submitted a falsified loan application in his own name.
According to the statement, Mr Doukari applied for a loan with Suncorp Bank using false payslips and bank statements.
ASIC believes the Queensland-based broker is not a fit and proper person to engage in credit activities, and not of good fame and character to provide financial services, it said.
“Mr Doukari’s conduct was not inadvertent nor was it the result of a momentary lapse; it was dishonest conduct committed knowingly and deliberately,” ASIC commissioner Peter Kell said.
“He failed to have regard to the principles applicable to a person engaging in credit activities and his conduct was aimed at gaining an advantage for himself and his friends.”
