The new package has built on around $6 billion in support the Victorian government has given to businesses through the pandemic, including three rounds of the Business Support Fund.
Almost $200 million ($190 million) has been wheeled towards a second round of the government’s Business Costs Assistance Program. The scheme will offer $2,500 grants for eligible businesses directly affected by industry restrictions, such as restaurants and cafes, event suppliers, accommodation providers and non-essential retailers.
A further $40.7 million will back a new round of the government’s Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund, which will provide businesses holding an eligible liquor licence and food certificate with a $3,500 grant per premises.
The first two initiatives will open from Wednesday (2 June).
Finally, an allocation of $20 million will be dedicated to supporting operators in the events industry who have incurred losses due to the restrictions. More details are set to come.
