A renewed interest in low doc loans has allowed one of the nation’s top 10 originators to launch a new mobile app and appoint two new managers.

Yesterday, Better Mortgage Management (BMM) announced it had appointed former NAB Broker state manager Murray Jones to the role of key account and strategy manager.

Mr Jones, who brings a wealth of experience to the new role, will be required to develop BMM’s relationship with brokers and other business partners.

BMM has also appointed Graeme Norris as the group's new Victorian and Tasmanian business development manager.

Mr Norris joins the team with more than 10 years’ experience servicing brokers in the non-bank sector and is well qualified to assist brokers access solutions not widely available to the market, BMM said.

BMM managing director Murray Cowan said the new appointments were partly in response to renewed interest in low doc lending from many brokers who were previously reluctant to write these loans.

“We have definitely noticed more brokers looking at low doc lending again, following a period of uncertainty following the introduction of the NCCP Act in 2010,” Mr Cowan said.

“It is clear that low doc lending is acceptable under the new regime and, with low doc rates falling above and beyond the RBA rate cuts in recent months, these loans are now perceived to be more affordable in the eyes of brokers and borrowers”.

Mr Cowan said BMM’s unique products and commitment to helping brokers understand low doc lending were another factor driving demand

"Our Capital Specialist range has features not widely available to the broker market, such as unlimited cash out up to 80 per cent LVR at market leading rates, so with more options now available at more reasonable rates, brokers are starting to take notice and we are there to help them every step of the way.”

To further assist brokers to readily access information, BMM has also launched a free mobile phone app which facilitates access to calculators and product information.
