The FBI has expanded its corporate fraud inquiries as the Wall Street financial crisis burgeons and questions mount as to whether executives had any responsibility for the collapses.
A spokesperson for the Bureau confirmed today that the total number of major institutions under investigation had increased from the 24 announced last week to 26, the American AFP reported.

It is widely believed that Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers and AIG are among the new organisations to the Bureau’s list of targets, although the FBI will not confirm any names.
