Consumer confidence in the United States remained at all time lows in February while a house price index has revealed US house prices have a long way to go before reaching positive territory.
The Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller Home Price Index showed yesterday that US house prices were down 19 per cent in January, compared with January 2008.
Consumer confidence was also flat in March, hovering just above the record low recorded in February, the Conference Board said yesterday.
The Board’s Index stood at 26 points in March, just above the 25.3 recorded the month prior.
