The FBAA has announced it will arrange a collection of clothes, goods and vouchers for the victims of the New South Wales bushfires, and is asking brokers to show their support.

FBAA chief executive Peter White said donations will be distributed directly to families in need at the Penrith RSL sub-branch this Friday.

“At times like this, it’s important we all support each other, and I know that finance brokers will dig deep to make a difference,” he said.

“If every broker sent something, the end result will be a contribution that will positively impact the lives of people who have suffered immeasurable loss and heartache."

The FBAA is not the only industry stakeholder offering help.

Each of the four major banks has offered assistance packages to their customers who have been affected by the fires, with CBA donating an additional $100,000 and NAB contributing $225,000 to victims and affected communities.

NAB general manager of corporate responsibility Paula Benson said the money would be spread across a number of funds and community groups over the coming weeks and months to ensure it went to the right places when it is needed most.

“NAB wants to ensure all employees, customers and communities know that when they need the support we will be there. Anyone who needs assistance or advice can contact us so we can discuss their circumstances and work out the best way to help,” she said.

For those wishing to donate, goods can be sent to the FBAA national office – First floor, 386 Logan Rd, Stones Corner QLD 4120.
