La Trobe Financial’s chief operating officer, Brian Ford said La Trobe intend on supporting customers through this difficult time.
“It is important to support our community during such a crisis and we have therefore put together a Hardship Assistance Team to make the necessary assessments and assist the community,” he said.
Affected borrowers can request to postpone loan repayments for three months.
Postponement of a loan repayment means that the loan repayment due on the respective payment day will be capitalised in the loan balance. Non-payment of the loan repayment for the agreed term will not constitute arrears or a default under the mortgage.
Applications can be made for assistance to the Hardship Assistance Team with each situation assessed on a case by case basis.
