Non-bank lender announces support package for those affected by the current bushfire crisis.

La Trobe Financial has announced it will make available a support package to customers who have suffered a reduction in income due to the impact of the current crisis, or their property has been damaged as a result of the fires.

La Trobe Financial’s chief operating officer, Brian Ford said La Trobe intend on supporting customers through this difficult time.

“It is important to support our community during such a crisis and we have therefore put together a Hardship Assistance Team to make the necessary assessments and assist the community,” he said.

Affected borrowers can request to postpone loan repayments for three months.

Postponement of a loan repayment means that the loan repayment due on the respective payment day will be capitalised in the loan balance. Non-payment of the loan repayment for the agreed term will not constitute arrears or a default under the mortgage.

Applications can be made for assistance to the Hardship Assistance Team with each situation assessed on a case by case basis.
