The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has launched a new website which brokers can use to help their clients better understand insurance.
The website is supported by a recent study commissioned by ICA that found more than four in five Australians don’t properly value their home and contents, and choose their insurance policy based on price rather than the most suitable coverage.

The website www.understandinsurance.com.au is designed to cut through ‘industry jargon’ and give consumers a better understanding of their insurance needs.
Campbell Fuller, general manager of communications at ICA, said the website is a great tool for brokers to help explain insurance to their clients.
By highlighting the importance of insurance and the fact that so many Australians are currently underinsured, the site can demonstrate the value of brokers to their clients, according to Mr Fuller.
“It reinforces the role that brokers can play in general insurance as well as explaining the basics in easy-to-understand language,” he said.
