According to The Adviser's editor, Stacey Moseley the role of a mortgage broker has changed shape over the past few years.
“This change has been driven by increasing levels of education and professionalism,” she said. “We are seeing many brokers taking this opportunity to broaden their service proposition and break into new areas of advice, especially financial planning.”
Convergence has occurred in many ways: some brokers have chosen to become fully-fledged licensed planners, some have brought in a professional to work as part of the team, and others have developed strong referral partnerships.
If you are a mortgage broker who is considering (or recently made) the move into financial planning, or you believe mortgage broking should be your sole focus, then we would like to hear from you.
“With your help, The Adviser will map the evolution of mortgage broking as it continues to converge with other areas of financial services,” Ms Moseley said.
“The survey will only take a few minutes but will give us a huge insight into the industry's progression.”
