Melbourne had three suburbs in the top 10: Taylors Lakes (fifth), Diamond Creek (eighth) and Cockatoo (10th).
Leigh Nosworthy, principal of the Aussie Home Loans office in Kingston, said local homes are popular with young families, while the suburb has an affordable median price of $350,000.
Properties have an average block size of 828 square metres and an average of 3.3 bedrooms, and are close to amenities like schools and shopping centres, he added.
“Kingston is a great place to live because it is affordable for growing families, is located with just a 10-minute drive to the city and is also very safe for kids,” Mr Nosworthy told The Adviser.
“The Top 100 report backs up recent market research undertaken by Aussie and RP Data, where the top five factors considered by families when seeking a new home are the number of bedrooms, the overall size of the block of land, whether there is a garage or off-street parking, followed by affordability and the size of the backyard – all of which are commonly featured in Kingston properties.”
The Top 100 list rated about 3,800 suburbs on a range of factors, including house prices, block size, average number of bedrooms, historical capital gains and proximity to local amenities.
Melbourne had the most entries in the top 100, with 30, while Brisbane had 22, Sydney had 21, Adelaide had 12, Hobart had nine, Perth had four and Darwin had one.
