Interest rate rises and affordability concerns have failed to deter prospective buyers, with brokerages such as X Inc registering sustained home lending queries.
Chief executive of X Inc Finance Jennifer Nielsen said home loan inquiries were up by 50 per cent in December 2007 compared to November 2007.

“December inquiries surged with people getting back into the market after delaying buying decisions during the Federal election campaign,” Ms Nielsen said.
January inquiries also look set to exceed December by a further 30 per cent, she said.
“Inquiries typically surge in January thanks in the main to optimism about the new year just begun,” she said.
