“I am delighted to be appointed the independent chair of COBA and have the opportunity to work with customer-owned banks, credit unions and building societies around Australia,” Ms Machin said.
“It is a great privilege to be leading an organisation whose focus is on bringing the benefit of competition and choice in banking to more and more Australians."
COBA chief executive Mark Degotardi said Ms Machin will help the industry collaborate, innovate and grow.
“Wendy brings obvious skills, deep insights and experience, particularly through her work in co-operative, customer-focused business environments,” he said.
“I look forward to working with her on the positive challenges ahead and am sure Wendy will feel right at home in a sector that values diversity, trust and ethical banking services.”
