Joining Choice gave Jenny Wang the flexibility to grow a successful specialist broking business with the support of an experienced team behind her

Jenny Wang established her mortgage business in 2011. She quickly took to broking like a natural, being recognised with a ‘Rising Star Award’ under her previous aggregator after just a year in business. But Jenny soon realised she would need a more flexible model to rapidly grow her business in the way she wanted.

“I wanted to take advantage of my Chinese background and develop a business that was specifically targeted to service the Chinese community’s finance needs,” she says.

“I was looking for an aggregator that would allow me the flexibility to design my own branding and marketing materials to target this market, while providing me with specialist advice and expertise to help build my business up quickly.”

A phenomenal success

Since joining Choice in mid-2014, Jenny’s business, Elite Mortgage Brokers, has grown rapidly, from a one-woman band to now having a solid team of 10 brokers. Elite is now writing substantial loan volumes each month, and the business’s phenomenal growth has seen Jenny open her own offices in the east Melbourne suburb of Blackburn.

Jenny spoke to a number of aggregators about their offerings before deciding to join Choice. She says the tailored support structure Choice offered, combined with a collaborative culture and a track record of helping businesses similar to hers succeed, convinced her that Choice was the right fit for her business.

“Choice offered more to me as a young business poised to enter a growth phase,” she says.

“The dedicated staff and servicing they provided, as well as their significant size and expertise working with large growth-oriented businesses, made them a natural choice when deciding which aggregator was going to take my business into its next phase.”

Jenny says the Choice team made it easy for her to build the capabilities of her business quickly to take advantage of market growth.

“Choice made the joining process simple, both for myself and all the brokers I have brought on board over the past year. Accreditation and training was straightforward and efficient, and the new staff were able to slot straight into the business and be productive from day one.”

Jenny says the most valuable part of membership of Choice for her is the supportive and collaborative team culture.

“Choice really got behind the idea of our business and helped us to tap into the local Chinese community and get to know their needs the way we wanted to,” she explains.

“The staff are so responsive if there’s a problem, and if we want to try something new in the business, they are right behind us helping to make it happen. We are growing very fast as a business, so that kind of assistance is really invaluable to us. It’s great to know we have the support of an aggregator who really sees the potential in our business.”

Jenny also says she really appreciated the personal touch of service staff at Choice. Her partnership manager has helped her to organise specialised training sessions for her staff at Choice’s corporate offices, and brought in lenders to have personalised one-on-one consultations with her brokers.

“Choice has really leveraged their position as a larger aggregator in the market to create opportunities that would not have been possible for our business otherwise,” she says.

“They have great relationships with a large range of lenders and fantastic resources at their disposal when it comes to education and training, which in turn helps us to recruit new staff because of the great experience they can have with us.”
