The Adviser

For most mortgage brokers, there has to be a compelling reason or life-changing event to make them contemplate changing aggregators

After all, it takes time to get in the groove with an aggregator, learn their technology, understand their processes and connect with the right people. That’s on top of considering the implications of forgoing commission trails and upfront investment costs. But that’s the choice many brokers have made to join Liberty Network Services (LNS), and become part of a leading innovative distribution business. We thought we would find out more about what makes LNS tick by asking the Managing Director of Liberty Network Services (LNS) – Brendan O’Donnell.

You made the switch yourself from CEO of Choice to Liberty some time ago. Tell us what makes LNS different to other models?

I made the switch as I knew we could build something unique that offered far more opportunity for growth, better returns for brokers, whilst minimising the barriers of entry. LNS offers a superior hybrid model that combines the best from the aggregator and branded models into one. Offering leading technology, support, marketing, diversity of product range and smart economics has been fundamental to our success. Our growth has been underpinned by our innovative technology platform, Spark. The technology has been developed to meet the needs of even the most experienced broker whilst being user-friendly enough to guide brokers who are new entrants to the industry.

In this highly competitive climate, how is LNS faring?

LNS has taken on a life of its own. Once we meet with prospective advisers and present the benefits of Spark and our model, our conversion rate for on-boarding is over 80 per cent. We have enjoyed solid growth over the last three years thanks to our partnership with our Liberty Advisers.

Our success comes from the sharing of culture, values and a common drive of taking the business to new heights. We are also proud to have recruited a number of new-to-industry advisers who receive the benefits of working with well-established and successful advisers.

Any final words?

The world has changed and it is only those who embrace new ways of doing things, new technologies and innovation that will survive and prosper.

So often in business and in life you hear “you don’t know what you don’t know”! With so many Liberty Advisers now thriving we have an appetite for more like-minded operators to join us!
