Major aggregator Vow Financial has crowned its leading commercial business writers, who explained how they have found success amid challenging market conditions.
LoanWA director Rob Diodato took out the award for Vow/YBR Commercial Broker Partner of the Year for SA/WA before going on to win the national title. Fellow finalists in SA and WA included Mr Diodato’s colleague Luke Natoli and TV Financial Services director Tamara Virgo.

Melbourne-based broker Chang Yi took home the Victorian gong, while Gary Casboult of Finance Brokers of Tasmania was named the state’s Broker Partner of the Year.
In NSW/ACT it was a tie between joint winners Donald Yum and Michael Delany.
Mr Delany has continued to build his business after a serious skiing accident last year, an event that he says enabled him to use his convalescence to consider a new direction for his Sydney-based brokerage, Delany Financial.
“What I got out of those months [recovering] was to change my business to almost be a referral business or outsource business and for me to concentrate on getting the customers in,” he said. “That’s worked pretty well. I’ve had my best year by doing that.”
Fraser Financial Services couple Ian and Kelly Fraser were named Vow/YBR Commercial Broker Partner of the Year 2017 for QLD/NT.
The Queensland-based commercial brokerage has managed to diversify into home lending by catering to the growing needs of its customers.
“We grew on equipment finance and then got into the property side of things,” Mr Fraser said. “We had those existing relationships with our clients and then they asked if we could do their mortgage for them,” he said, encouraging all residential brokers to get into equipment finance.
Vow awarded Paul Evans it’s top leasing referrer and ANZ’s Jim Ahern BDM of the Year for 2017.
The national awards followed the Vow Financial commercial conference in Hobart on Thursday and Friday.
