Fifteen women have been announced as recipients of CAFBA’s Women in Leadership Scholarship program.
The Commercial Asset Finance Brokers Association of Australia’s initiative, arranged through Women in Leadership Australia and conducted through the Australian School of Applied Management, aims to “unlock potential” and “address the gender imbalance in [the] industry”.

It is the third intake of the scholarship program, which is open to female CAFBA members and their staff.
The scholarships include:
- A $4,000 scholarship for mid-level managers to assist their participation in the Executive Ready Program.
- A $3,000 scholarship for early-career managers to assist their participation in the Accelerated Leadership Performance Program.
The scholarships cover a portion of the cost of the course and are funded partly through government grants and partly through the support of affiliate members.

The association commented: “These courses will not only be of benefit to these very worthwhile candidates but to our industry as whole.
“This is a great outcome and demonstrates CAFBA’s commitment to addressing the gender imbalance in our industry, and also tapping into the tremendous talent pool we already have within our member firms.

Speaking to The Adviser’s Elite Broker podcast last year, CAFBA vice president Kathryn Bordonaro said that the scholarship program is “about encouraging leadership and becoming more visible, because I strongly believe that if you can’t see it, you can’t be it. So, shining a light on the other women in the industry means that for new entrants coming in, their path will be easier.”
