Liberty Financial has made its first foray into funds management with the launch of the Liberty Term Investment Fund.

The fixed return investment product is said to offer retail investors the opportunity to earn higher returns than those currently offered by bank term deposits, by providing an investment secure by a diverse portfolio of assets originated by Liberty.

The underlying asset mix includes residential and commercial property loans, motor vehicle loans, trade receivables and equipment loans.

Liberty’s general manager of finance and treasury said this was the company’s first investment offering in the retail market.

“Institutional investors have benefited from our asset management expertise over ten years, so we are excited to now be able to deliver the same opportunity to retail investors."

The investment fund is offering a return of 8.50 per cent for the first 12 month fixed investment term.
