Working with a life coach
I work very closely with Dr Fred Grosse; he’s got some fantastic philosophies around how you can really try and make sure you’re having a 10 out of 10 day.

It’s about understanding what are the things you really love and make your heart sing. For me, that might be a walk on the beach with my wife and son or a fine glass of wine after work. It could be any number of different things.
That’s a focus for me, I keep a daily accountability diary and part of that is I need to get four out of 10 out of 10s. I think if you love each day and at the end of the day you can say it was 10 out of 10, I think that definitely makes work and life a lot more enjoyable no matter the challenges that come your way.

Gym sessions
I think going to the gym’s a major one for me, actually, a lot of my friends and family would fall over for me saying that I enjoy doing exercise now!
Every second weekend I get my kids, so I get my energy source a lot of the time from my kids and seeing them.
I do other things like going for a walk, putting a podcast in and listening to that, grabbing some coffee, or just catching up with my friends. That’s usually how I like to unwind.

Hunting (with no phone signal)
The main thing I do outside of work is spending a lot of time with my two young children but I’m also an avid hunter.
Luckily, we’ve got access to a few private properties and I also have a permit to control wildlife. I enjoy it because mobile phone reception doesn’t work so the phone doesn’t ring. I don’t have the temptation of looking at my phone all the time.
It’s nice going out with friends and having conversations that don’t revolve around banking!

Surfing and learning new hobbies
I like to go to the gym a fair bit, I do classes five or six times a week. I like to surf too, even though I’m not very good at it. I really like taking on new hobbies, even if I’m no good, I still love it.
There’s a wave pool in Melbourne called Urban Surf, which is just so much fun. I try to get there once a week, which is just active meditation.
I love doing that and I try to keep my diet good and stay as fit and healthy as I can.

Family time and reading
A hundred per cent of my free time is just with my family and kids, which is a lot of fun. The hard part is knowing when to switch off because the phone’s always ringing and the emails are just relentless.
I’ve also always loved reading; I look forward to just being able to have the time to read more. I love reading philosophy and I have a whole bunch of books that are on the bucket list that have that angle.
I’d really like to learn the guitar one day too, but that might be a while off, I think!
