Women back property investment

Rising interest rates are not deterring female investors from the property market, a survey by Mortgage Choice has revealed.

Of 566 females surveyed, 83 per cent said they were satisfied with their property portfolios and over 50 per cent said they planned to add to their portfolio within the next two years.

“You only have to visit a handful of auctions to realise how many women are confidently investing in property, often on their own,” said Warren O’Rourke, Mortgage Choice’s national manager of corporate affairs.

The key factors female investors listed as motivation for purchasing property were setting themselves up for the future (52 per cent), negative gearing (16 per cent) and capital growth (14 per cent).
