Sluggish weekend for auctions

Housing markets remain subdued, auction clearance rates for the weekend have revealed.

According to Australian Property Monitors (APM) the clearance rate for auctions in Melbourne was just 52.7 per cent – compared to 82.1 per cent on the equivalent weekend in 2007.

In Sydney the clearance rate was 48.5 per cent compared to 59.4 per cent last year; in Adelaide clearance rates fell from 68.5 per cent in 2007 to 40.5 per cent over the weekend.
