Speaking to The Adviser, NAB’s general manager broker distribution John Flavell said the third party distribution channel’s market share could certainly eclipse 50 per cent.
"We expect to see the broker proposition to grow in strength. While some people will talk about specific share at specific times I think it is hard to be that certain, but what we can be most certain about is the trend. The trend is on the up and I see no reason why brokers will not continue to grow their share to become the largest source of mortgage lending origination across the mortgage industry.
According to Mr Flavell, the bank continues to build its commitment to the broking industry as this is the space that will provide lenders with the greatest growth opportunities.
“Brokers will continue to represent a greater portion of the market. From a group’s perspective, you are going to continue to invest in the channels where you expect to see the greatest growth to occur. The NAB group has made it clear that we are committed to the broker channel and that is based on our belief that the broker proposition is very strong and increasing in strength all the time,” he said.
“In an environment where things are complex and uncertain, brokers provide a valuable service to their customers. Brokers provide clarity and continuity of service. We will continue to invest in our brokers' proposition to ensure they continue to deliver a highly valuable proposition to their customers."
