ANZ’s head of commercial broker, Cosi De Angelis, told The Adviser that while some cautiousness about the future remains, business conditions have improved somewhat in the commercial sector.
“There is still a lot of activity in the commercial and asset finance market,” he said.
“January sales figures suggest small businesses across the country have experienced a good start to the year. Obviously, it’s still early days and it’s not unusual to see a spike in January sales but these are positive signs and we’re hopeful this is the beginning of a solid year of trading for business owners.
“As business owners remain vigilant around costs, they are looking to optimise their cash flow, through both lending and savings solutions.
“There is a lot of refinance activity going on as customers look for the best deal in the market.”
