Inflation hit an annual rate of 4.5 per cent in the June quarter, data from the ABS revealed today.
This was the largest annual change since 1995, except for the period of the introduction of the GST.

The most significant contributors to the quarterly 1.5 per cent rise were deposit and loan facilities, fuel, rents, hospital services and the increase in the price of alcoholic spirits.
