Unemployment rate unchanged in July

Employment remained surprisingly strong in July, despite a slowdown in economic growth, ABS figures showed today.

The unemployment rate for July held steady at 4.3 per cent – the same result for four straight months following ABS revisions.

Total employed persons rose by 10,900 over the month to 10,721,500.

Unemployed persons also rose by 5,700 to 481,100.
