CBA tipped to move on BankWest

The Commonwealth Bank may turn set its sights on Perth-based BankWest, The Australian reported today.

After withdrawing its proposal to acquire ABN AMRO last week, the daily said expectations were mounting that CBA would make a bid for HBOS-owned BankWest.

Such an acquisition would come at a price of between $5 and $7 billion, The Australian said.
