Building approvals for new homes continued to decline in July, figures from the ABS showed today.
Total dwelling units approved fell by 2.3 per cent, seasonally adjusted, to 12,620.

Approvals for houses fell slightly more than units, decreasing by 3.4 per cent, compared to 2.3 per cent.
On a state by state basis dwelling approvals dropped off most in South Australia – 10.7 per cent – bringing total dwellings approved to 1,082 in July.
In WA total dwelling approvals rose by 7.2 per cent to 1,880.
