Jim Hall, head of mortgages and real estate at Sterling Publishing and publisher of The Adviser, said the role of the non-majors has become even more important now that brokers’ share of the market has pushed well through the 50 per cent mark.
“This growth has occurred in spite of ongoing fintech disruption in the mortgage landscape and makes the non-major proposition even more influential, providing competitive alternatives for home buyers,” Mr Hall said.
“The relationship between the non-major lenders and brokers continues to be symbiotic, underlined by the new pressures each one finds itself under,” he said, adding that broker feedback to this survey will help Australia’s non-majors maintain their already high levels of third-party backing.
The report will rank and compare the country’s non-major lenders across a range of categories including product, tech, commissions and support.
The rankings will provide lenders with an insight into how brokers rank their products and services. Brokers will be able to rate the collective performance of the non-majors, prompting in some cases a broker to trial a lender they have not previously considered.

The survey will close on July 27.
