All the big four banks will be providing assistance packages to flood-affected customers in central western New South Wales.

Earlier this week, ANZ announced it would suspend loan repayments for customers affected by the flooding of the Lachlan River in central western NSW.

The other big four banks – Westpac, NAB and CBA – have since also announced they will offer similar assistance packages to those in need.

Within the Westpac Disaster Relief Package is the offer of home loan and credit card repayment deferrals for up to 90 days. Affected businesses will be offered free loan restructuring and advice without additional fees.

CBA launched its Emergency Assistance Package, enabling repayment deferrals, fee waiving and emergency accommodation assistance for CommInsure customers whose homes have been damaged.

Meanwhile, NAB’s Natural Disaster Package provides measures such as credit card and personal loan relief as well as the provision of support and counselling, by making NAB’s Employee Assistance Program available to customers in flood-affected areas.

NAB NSW North’s retail manager Paul Juergens said this was an “uncertain time for many people in Forbes as rising floodwaters have cut off roads, caused widespread damage to crops and prompted the State Emergency Service to issue an evacuation for residents”.

“Our thoughts are with the people who have been affected by these ongoing floods. We are here to support all NAB customers, employees and the wider community.”
