Some of the industry’s most successful young brokers have discussed their biggest accomplishments and what they enjoy most about working in the third-party channel.
Breaking into the industry at a young age is no easy feat, but there are some newcomers who have already made leaps and bounds in their first few years.

At just 20 years old, Shore Financial’s Harry Favetti said he was named the youngest accredited broker in Australia within his aggregator, AFG.
“At that time I managed to write more business than the average broker nationwide within my first 12 months,” he told The Adviser.
“I like that we have a regular opportunity to get out of the office and meet clients face-to-face which keeps the job exciting,” Mr Favetti explained.
“It’s also very rewarding when you are able to assist someone in purchasing a property when they thought it wasn’t possible due to being given advice from simply one lender who wasn’t able to help.”
Similarly, Brenden Lowbridge of Investor Loans Network said that his “proudest moment to date” was being awarded ‘Platinum in Finance’ by his aggregator PLAN Australia.
Jacqueline Wang of N1 finance said that after being in the industry for just two years, she is most proud of coming to act as a role model for those new to the industry and “being able to prove to newcomer colleagues that they’re making the right choice”.
After starting out in the industry in November of 2014, Loan Market’s Nelson Bodeya said he has been “very humbled” by being named ‘Best New Broker’ in Australia for 2016 by his aggregator.
MADD Loans’ George Samios said that he hadn’t expected to have achieved as much as he has already in his time as a broker.
“When I won broker of the year for my aggregator, that was probably a pretty big accomplishment,” he said.
“But to be honest the best accomplishment is when clients call me back and they come and use us again and again, and my mother gets to work with me which is an awesome achievement.
“Having the ability to employ my mother who works with me full time, having the ability to employ two other full-time employees and pay them good salaries and help them develop into a mortgage broker makes me feel happy,” he explained.
Brokers under the age of 30 will be celebrated at a cocktail event in November, with the Young Broker of the Year for 2016 to be announced on the night.
