He was also instrumental in establishing the ANZ Mobile Lending franchise, which experienced rapid growth in its early years.
“Our franchise network is the heart of the YBR brand, and we are committed to having great people driving it. Glenn’s going to be taking on the job, at a time when we have some fantastic technology and products rolling out nationally. It’s an exciting time for him to join us,” YBR executive chairman Mark Bouris said.
Mr Gibson believes that the key to success in the role will be understanding the value of the brand to its franchisees and the value of being a broker or adviser in the current market.
“I’ll focus on cementing our value proposition and making the most of the opportunity that YBR has in the marketplace,” the new GM said.
Married to a long-time franchise business owner, Mr Gibson said that he has a great vantage point of the business model.
“I’ve seen the franchise model from both sides of the fence. I have hands-on experience in franchisor operations, but [I] also understand how the decisions they make impact the self-employed franchisees who live the brand every day. I think that’s a good starting point for me to engage with the Yellow Brick Road network.”
In a year of regulatory and royal commission scrutiny, Mr Gibson said that he will work closely with the YBR Group team on these issues.
“Having been an active participant in the Combined Industry Forum along with both ABA and MFAA committees, I can see there are challenges and opportunities for the broking profession. I’ll be working with the leadership team to ensure we are well positioned in this environment,” Mr Gibson said.
The new YBR GM will start on 9 April, taking the reins from Andrew Rasby, who leaves YBR at the end of March.
