Australian Broking Awards 2020

The Adviser, in partnership with the Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia, is pleased to announce the finalists for the Newcomer and Diversification of the Year categories for the Australian Broking Awards 2020.

This year, finalists for the Australian Broking Awards (ABAs) will be revealed by categories over the course of the next two weeks.

This new approach is to showcase the outstanding achievements of our finalists in each hotly contested category, with each finalist having a dedicated profile page to display their valuable contribution in strengthening Australia’s broking profession.

Newcomer of the Year

This award acknowledges the broker that has built the most successful business within two calendar years of starting up, based not only on loan volumes and other business performance metrics but also a holistic approach in building a sustainable platform for future expansion.

The award is particularly pertinent this year given the rapidly changing environment that has made building and establishing a business more challenging for new starters – from the fallout from the royal commission and the threat of changes to commissions, to the bushfire season and the incoming best interests duty.

There are 10 finalists for the Newcomer of the Year award this year.

Diversification Program of the Year

This award acknowledges the brokerage that has best harnessed a broad solution offering to strengthen client relationships and meet their evolving needs.

While residential mortgages are the mainstay generator of business for the majority of brokers, there has been a steady shift towards a diversified broker offering to strengthen client relationships and meet their evolving needs. Brokers now offer a breadth of products, ranging from debt protection and business finance to superannuation.

There are five finalists for the Diversification Program of the Year award.
