ANZ has appointed a new general manager to oversee its internal auditing.
Paul Orton has taken the role, after being the bank’s head of resources, energy and infrastructure and the global head for project and export finance.

He has succeeded Shane Buggle, who was appointed acting chief financial officer in February.
ANZ chief executive Shayne Elliot commented: “It’s pleasing to be able to appoint a senior banker with Paul’s track record and strong values to such an important role that provides the board and our management team with independent and objective assurance on our operations.”
Previously, Mr Orton had been head of institutional banking, Australia & Asia, at NabCapital, as well as head of project and leveraged finance at NAB.
He had also been a head of project and leveraged finance at Deutsche Bank.
The new ANZ appointment is subject to regulatory requirements.
