SME lender expands Vic BDM team

SME lender Prime Capital has made another new appointment to its broker support team, hiring a new BDM for Victoria.

Prime Capital has built on its rapid broker support expansion, hiring a new business development manager (BDM) for Victoria.

John Carnie, who has been a BDM for MKM Capital for the past four years, has joined Prime Capital as a BDM for Victoria.

He will join Vince Bolger, a former HomeSec Business Finance BDM, who joined Prime earlier this month to service Victorian brokers.

As well as BDM experience, Mr Carnie has more than two decades of banking expertise, having previously been a credit officer at ME Bank, a senior analyst in securitisation at NAB, and the head of credit review at Advantedge Financial Services.

Speaking of the new appointment, Prime Capital’s chief commercial officer (CCO), Steve Sampson, said: “It is truly inspiring for me to continue to attract such high-calibre and experienced professionals to our team that provide fast and simple loans to Australian SMEs.

“John has vast experience in this field from his previous roles and has an excellent history in the credit arena dealing with brokers.”

Mr Carnie said he was delighted to be a non-bank lender, stating: “Never has there been a more important time [in which] SMEs have needed support of non-bureaucratic access to finance.

“I look forward to assisting our brokers in helping their customers.”

Noting that Prime Capital had been on a recruitment drive over the past few months, Mr Sampson highlighted that as the non-bank solely distributes its products through the broker network, it was “determined to help them service a growing SME cohort that require fast and simple loans, in times that have been challenging for them”.

“We are able to avoid the big bank bureaucracy that SMEs can suffer, and the BDM team play a big part in making this happen,” he said.
