Mr Wright commences in the role on 28 August and joins with over 20 years of leadership experience in financial services across retail banking, commercial lending, and mortgage broking.
His most recent positions were as CEO at mortgage finance aggregator and broker fintech platform FAST Group and before that in several executive leadership roles at National Australia Bank.
Mr Wright also brings with him experience in consulting and currently sits on the board of a broker software provider CitoPlus as a non-executive director.
Mr Watson said: “Brendan is the ideal person to guide Qudos Bank through its next phase of development and growth. He has strong financial services credentials and is passionate about leading with purpose and creating a diverse and inclusive culture.
“On behalf of the board I would like to welcome Brendan to Qudos Bank and sincerely thank Cindy Hansen, our deputy CEO who has assisted me in leading the organisation during a time of rapid change.
“Cindy will transition into a key leadership role, continuing her work in the oversight of our strategy and transformation programs.”
The mutual bank said Mr Wright’s priority would be to direct and support the organisation’s transformation process that was already underway while also continuing to build and reinforce Qudos Bank as a “purpose led brand, ensuring sustainability and competitiveness into the future”.
Mr Wright said: “I’m thrilled to be commencing this next chapter with Qudos Bank which plays an important role in the financial services sector as a customer owned bank. I look forward to guiding the organisation through a key transformation phase.”
Further industry appointments
Mr Wright’s selection followed RedZed’s appointment of Calvin Cordle as its new managing director earlier this month.
Mr Cordle commenced his role at the non-bank lender on 16 August and joins after, similarly to Mr Wright, holding a senior position at National Australia Bank.
On his appointment, Mr Cordle said: “This is an exciting time to be joining RedZed and I’m looking forward to building on the strong foundations that have been laid over the last 17 years.
“RedZed’s ethics and approach to doing business are closely aligned with mine. We are both focused on positive outcomes for our customers and understand the importance of strong relationships, which RedZed’s broker network and reputation is testament to.”
