OnDeck hires 2 new BDMs

by Adrian Suljanovic8 minute read

The SME lender has announced new additions to its business development manager team.

Online small-business lender OnDeck Australia has announced the appointment of Ellessa Demarco and Kylie Mahasay as its new business development managers (BDMs).

According to OnDeck, Demarco brings experience in helping brokers access funding solutions to support the growth of its small-business clients.

Furthermore, Demarco carries a background of commercial lending knowledge. Her previous roles have had Demarco responsible for conducting professional development workshops in order to help brokers identify commercial opportunities across their residential client base.

On her appointment, Demarco commented: “I maintain direct, honest, and straightforward lines of communication with brokers, to deeply understand their needs and to ensure we can help them provide the best possible solutions for their clients.

“I am very excited to be part of the dedicated OnDeck team, and I look forward to forging successful relationships with brokers right across Victoria, South Australia, Western [Australia] and Tasmania.”

Meanwhile, Mahasay has been brought in as OnDeck’s new BDM for NSW, with five years of experience in the finance industry, particularly around small-business cash flow and working capital needs.

“I look forward to engaging with OnDeck’s broker partners and helping them identify opportunities to grow their business through small-business lending,” Mahasay said.

OnDeck’s national partnerships manager Nick Reily welcomed the duo to their new roles.

“Not only do these professionals bring impressive skills and experience to our team, their appointment is also supporting gender diversity across the finance industry – and within our own team,” Reily said.

“OnDeck has a strong track record for gender diversity.

“Women make up 43 per cent of our executive team, and one-third of our company. Already we are outpacing finance industry averages for gender diversity, and the appointment of Ellessa and Kylie will further enhance female representation across our sales team.”

These appointments followed the SME lender observing a “significant rise” in demand for unsecured small-business loans.

Reily continued: We are seeing a real surge in confidence across the small-business community.

“February saw OnDeck record a 32 per cent jump in month-on-month loan approvals – an upward trend that confirms OnDeck research showing over one-third of small businesses rate the health of their enterprise as ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’.

“I would encourage brokers to engage with OnDeck’s newly enlarged BDM team for expert support financing the growth plans of their small-business client.”
