Making headlines today, The Daily Telegraph has reported that a former St George lending officer is facing court on charges of conspiracy and mortgage fraud.

Hiba Cornell is currently fighting 10 charges including conspiracy to ‘cheat and defraud financial institutions of large sums of money’.

Police allege that Ms Cornell inflated property values and faked mortgage documents for her own financial gain.

Yesterday, the court heard that Ms Cornell verified one client, Ahmad Hamze, was earning $89,976 a year working at a bakery, but in fact, the client was not employed at the bakery at the time.
