Non-banks eye investor clients

Australia’s non-bank lenders are well placed to help property investors with their financial needs, Resi’s chief executive Lisa Montgomery has claimed.

Speaking to The Adviser, Ms Montgomery said if non-banks are looking for a niche borrower segment to tap into, then the investor segment is a good place to start.

According to Ms Montgomery, investors need structure around their property portfolio and flexibility in their loans – two things non-bank lenders can provide.

“Investors need to have a structure for their property portfolio,” she said.

“We write a lot of investment loans. A good portion of our book is made up of investors and that is because they recognise the quality of service that non-banks can provide. They know that their financial needs are a little bit more complicated and thus need more care and attention than a vanilla loan.

“They are looking for guidance and structure and non-bank lenders can provide just that.”
