Brokers who write commercial loans with Bankwest can expect greater support and faster turnaround times in the new financial year.

Yesterday, Bankwest announced it had bolstered its commercial broker sales team by introducing a new business structure.

Coming into effect in the new financial year, Bankwest has made the decision to bring the business development and broker sales teams together into one single acquisition channel.

Under Brian Steele, the new Bankwest business head of commercial sales, this move will enable the team to continue to capitalise on its position as the leading challenger brand to the big four.

“To ensure that we are in the best position possible to be successful and grow, the decision was made to merge the business development and broker sales teams together into one single acquisition channel and also embark on a selection process to establish three key regional managers who will join me in leading our newly combined team,” Mr Steele said.

“A great deal of time and effort has gone into finalising the successful candidates for these roles, ensuring that we have the right combination of leadership attributes, knowledge and skills required.”

The business development regional management team will now also be geographically aligned, leading the partnership managers and business development managers in each respective area.

Stephen Dargan will head up Western Australia with Lisa Wright overseeing New South Wales and Queensland, and Darren Nelson fulfilling the role of regional manager for Victoria and South Australia.

“This new structure will ensure that our business development efforts complement each other and, as well as making us the biggest standalone acquisition team in the marketplace, it will ensure that we can deliver to the best interests of our broker partners,” Mr Steele said.

 •
Troy is correct have a look at the 4 corners story about a month ago. Very interesting and you then need to ask the questions: "Would putting them with BankWest be good for my client?", after watching the story your answer will be very clear.

 •
Bankwest have a lot of ground to make up. The way they have treated existing clients at annual review time over the past few years with revaluations and repricing is nothing short of deplorable. Trust will take years to rebuild, the punters have long memories and a play on price won't work.
