Building consents in New Zealand continued to decline in June, Statistics New Zealand revealed yesterday.
Just 1,362 housing units were authorised for construction in June, the lowest figure since 2001.

Residential building consents were valued at $455 million, a significant $236 million down from June 2007.
Non-residential building consents were also down $69 million from June 2007 at $313 million.
