“What I want to push with my content marketing is the results you can get, because it’s not all about the rate,” she told The Adviser.
Ms Naughton said she hoped to launch the newsletter in a month and gain 1,000 subscribers by the end of 2014.
Black Sheep started trading in August 2012 and is on track to record 40 per cent year-on-year settlements growth in 2013/14, she said.
Ms Naughton said the one-person operation was hiring an admin assistant to handle the extra volumes. The newsletter is expected to generate Black Sheep’s next phase of growth, she added.
Ms Naughton said she worked 15-hour days last year after buying a dry cleaning business in January 2013.
She would process loans when she wasn’t dealing with dry cleaning customers – and then, at night, she would visit home loan clients.
She said she was now spending two days per week outside the dry cleaning business while she developed her subscription newsletter service.
Ms Naughton entered the mortgage broking industry in 2010. The 26-year-old was recently named one of Australia’s top 50 female entrepreneurs under 40 by Shoestring magazine.
Anthill magazine named her entrepreneur of the year in 2013 and Inbusiness magazine named her young business leader of the year in 2011.
